How We Work
- Develop and communicate an integral vision for resilient earth societies
- Integrate science, technology with community wisdom for resilient adaptation
- Bridge community, subnational, national, and international adaptation scales
- Connect science, engineering, policy, finance, and governance to advance resilience

Community Transitions
ERI co-sponsors the MIT-led Project Sonar Bangla, where collaborators are advancing an anticipatory and participatory approach to locally led adaptation using mixed-initiative serious games.

Salinization and Agriculture
Rapid salinization of agricultural land is a growing challenge for many coastal communities. ERI-related collaborators are developing remote-sensing and AI tools to quantify and project salinization hazards and support community-based adaptation strategies. ERI helps connect and apply this work; the underlying research, tools, and intellectual property remain with their respective owners.

Coastal Floods and Polders
The Dutch led the development of polders, which are now widespread across Bangladesh. But are embankments the only way to live with water? By keeping water out, we may also have lost some of the older knowledge of living with seasonal flooding. ERI’s collaborators study alternatives to conventional polders and embankments in the Sundarbans, integrating scientific insight with local and societal wisdom.
